Magnets - the crisis you knew was coming (May 23rd 2022)
Delta, the journalistic platform of the TU Delft, made an article about the VALOMAG project involving students. Soshan Abrahami leads a students recycling project as part of a materials science course for ten groups of six bachelor students, and the topic is recycling magnets from HDD"s.
Evaluating weak acids as alternative leaching reagents for rare earth elements recovery from NdFeb magnets, (May 2nd 2022)
Paper in the Journal of Rare Earths about the study on an advanced leaching method using organic acids to recover rare earth elements (REEs) from NdFeB permanent magnets from end-of-life computers hard disk drives (HDDs). The results presented in this paper suggest that REEs can be recovered from magnets of end-of-life HDDs using an eco-friendly method assisted by organic acids.
