The project combines different key players and organizations, bringing together different complementary expertise. All key areas of scientific and technical innovation are covered by one or more partners, selected from the strongest candidates along the value chain of materials, processes and products to be investigated and demonstrated. The seven project partners work on business, education and research to get the Valomag project on a TRL level of 6 to 7 in extracting and recycling of magnets.
The project partners work at the 4 main technical work packages of the project, according to their expertise:
- The sourcing of End of Life products containing permanent magnets and characterization of the magnets
- The dismantling and the pre-processing of the extracted materials focusing on the magnets
- The recycling processes of magnets (Decrepitation, Melting and Hydrometallurgy)
- The technical and economical evaluation of the whole value chain and all processes through LCA and flowsheet simulation.

CRM Group
Centre de Recherches Métallurgiques: CRM is the Centre for Research in Metallurgy, based in Liège, Belgium. CRM is a collective research centre having as Core Members two major worldwide steel companies (ArcelorMittal and Tata Steel) and as Associated Members numerous companies producing non-ferrous metals, providing services to the steel industry or promoting the use of metals.

Commissariat à l’énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives, (French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission): CEA is the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique et aux Energies alternatives). It is a public body active in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defence and security, information technologies and health technologies. In each of these fields, the CEA maintains a cross-disciplinary culture of engineers and researchers, building on the synergies between fundamental and technological research.

Leiden University
The main area of work is research and education in the multidisciplinary field of sustainability science, drawing from both the natural and social sciences. CML has two research departments: Conservation Biology (CML-CB), dealing with issues of biodiversity and sustainable land use and Industrial Ecology (CML-IE), dealing with research into the development of tools for decision making on sustainable production and consumption
